MerMapp is a passion project brought to life by Mermaid Coraluna. She got into mermaiding by chance, stumbling over a thriving mermaid culture while housesitting in Florida. She had many amazing first experiences with it, like winning a MerTailor voucher at a mermaid festival, and resolved to bring this newfound passion for Mermaiding home.

Back in Europe, Coraluna started a side hustle as a street-artist mermaid in Spain. She noticed that, even though mermaids were totally unknown in Europe besides children's stories, people absolutely loved it. Seeing the beauty, magic and the power for environmental change mermaiding is carrying with it, Coraluna wanted to help mermaids and mermen from all over the globe to easily connect and synergize. That's when the idea of MerMapp was born.

Four years later, after lots of development, we're ready to launch the first version of it to the world. But we’re not done yet! The community of MerMapp is still helping us build the perfect space for merfolk all over the world; and you can be a part of it.

The Bigger Vision

As MerMapp is only made for merfolk and freedivers, we needed a parent company to provide a home to all of these different community apps in the making.

And so APPearl was born. APPearl's mission is to build spaces for niche communities that have difficulty connecting the dots around the globe. Our mission is to bring business, people and information together in an easy and fun way, solving these issues once and for all. Community is nothing without it’s infrastructure, however; so each of these apps will donate 4% of its revenue to related causes voted on by the community, supporting the communities that support us.

Not long into development for MerMapp, it became clear that there are a lot of niche communities like Mermaiding that have the same problem - they are very dispersed, and it's hard to find like-minded people to spend time with. Especially when you're just beginning to dip your toes into its waters. With other social media apps, the pure saturation of content can make it hard to tell good information from bad information, and make it difficult to not feel alone.

"Before MerMapp, a part of me felt adrift, yearning to infuse my daily work with deeper meaning and value. Now, with every step APPearl takes, I am not just building platforms, but nurturing communities and championing causes close to my heart. It's my personal pledge to make waves of positive change, one passionate project at a time."
