Hey fin-fam! 💙

Corinna here—your fellow ocean dreamer, splashy adventurer, and CEO of MerMapp.

We just wrapped up an incredible leg of our big Asia tour, and wow... Singapore truly surprised us. I didn’t expect this sleek, city-state to feel like such a mermaid playground—but it absolutely did. From underwater shows that left us breathless to poolside meals served on floating trays (yes, really!), this place was full of unexpected magic.

If you’re a mermaid lover, ocean fan, or even just into dreamy vibes and unique experiences, keep reading. Here's your guide to all the must-see, must-splash, and must-feel moments in Singapore—through the eyes (and fins) of someone who just did it all!

🌿 Fort Canning Tree Tunnel: For the Tails and the Tales

Ready to get silly? HydroDash is a giant inflatable obstacle course floating right off Sentosa Island, and it’s pure water fun. Think wipeouts, leaps, and flailing arms in the most joyful way possible.

It’s a bit pricy ($30 SGD for 1 hour), but honestly, if you go with a friend or podmate (we had the absolute pleasure to go together with The Singapore Mermaid School and their leader Syrena - more on that further below), it’s totally worth it for the memories. Just don’t expect to leave dry 😂

Okay, this spot? It’s not officially “mermaid” anything—but it’s giving full fantasy forest portal. The tree tunnel at Fort Canning is one of the most photographed places in Singapore, and once you see it, you’ll understand why.

It's basically a round sky portal framed in climbing trees and vines, and when you stand at the bottom, it looks like a dream. I 100% recommend bringing your tail or at least something flowy for photos - I really regretted not doing it, so don’t make the same mistake 😀

🌳 But heads up!

  • We went on a Wednesday morning (cloudy, even!) and still waited 20–30 minutes. On sunny weekends it can hit 2–3 HOURS.

  • If you're determined, turn it into a picnic and take turns in line!

  • Bring a fan. That tunnel has zero airflow.

If you get hungry while waiting, the bakery around the corner is one of Singapore’s oldest—and the pastries are worth every Singapore dollar.

🐉 The MerLion: The Iconic Hybrid That Speaks to Our Souls

We had to include this one because… come on. Half lion, half fish? That’s basically a mermaid with land legs and claws.

The MerLion is one of Singapore’s most iconic symbols, and while it’s mostly a touristy photo stop, it actually holds deeper meaning too—it represents Singapore’s fishing village roots and its rise to strength.

From one hybrid sea creature to another: this spot is a must. Pair it with your tail for a fun shoot, or come dressed in sea colors for a subtle siren vibe.

🌌 Marina Bay Light & Water Show: Goosebumps Included

At night, Singapore absolutely glows. The light and water show at Marina Bay Sands runs nightly at 8pm and 9pm—and it’s breathtaking.

Dancing fountains, light beams slicing through mist, orchestral music swelling in your chest… I literally teared up. (Okay, I cry easily when water and music combine—but still, it was powerful.)

It’s free. It’s stunning. And it’s right by the MerLion, so you can make a full evening of it.

Now… save this for your last night.

The Fish Pool at the JW Marriott South Beach is where Syrena, @thesingaporemermaid performs every week (Wed–Sat, 7:15pm). It’s a small venue, but the magic is BIG - so make sure to reserve in advance, especially because sitting directly at the pool glass makes it even more magical.

Her show is a whooping 45 minutes long, and it is nothing short of masterful. Her breath control, grace, and performance presence are insane. Even Morgana, founder of the Circus Siren Pod, was floored—and she knows her stuff.

Watching someone this talented perform underwater live is incredibly rare. If you only do one thing on this list—make it this.

A fair warning: Given that there is 0 entrance fee (yes, we could hardly believe it either!), the food and drinks are more on the pricey side (but also high quality!). The good thing: you can choose how much you consume! We for example tried a few very nice cocktails and chose to have dinner somewhere more affordable.

🧜‍♀️ The Fish Pool: The Grand Finale

After we saw Syrena perform, we got to hang out with her and her incredible community of mermaids through the Singapore Mermaid School (@thesingaporemermaidschool) for a fun evening out - and we were lucky enough to also do the HydroDash and +Twelve Beach Club with them. What a treat!!

This crew is so warm, fun, and welcoming. They often host meet-ups and events, and they’re super open to connecting with visiting mers.

💙 Best ways to connect:

  • Message Syrena on Instagram—she’s super responsive

  • Check MerMapp’s Merfolk Map before your trip to see if anyone’s around to connect or collab! (And yes, this works for all around the world - not only Singapore! So make a note for this for any of your upcoming travels to connect with like-minded mers across the globe!)

Honestly, this was one of the best parts of the whole experience—just sharing food, stories, and joy with other ocean lovers. Total pod vibes.

🌐 Meet the Singapore Mermaid School: A Pod to Call Home

I honestly didn’t expect Singapore to have such a strong mermaid heartbeat. But it does. The community, the ocean-love, the creativity—it all comes together here in ways I didn’t see coming.

Whether you’re splashing through inflatable courses, taking a personalized course with Syrena herself, or just connecting with other mers over dinner and dreams… Singapore has a current that calls to us.

So pack your tail. Bring your spirit. Check the MerCalendar. And dive into the magic.

With fins & friendship,
Corinna 🧜‍♀️✨

💫 Final Splash: Why Singapore Belongs on Every Mermaid’s Bucket List

Our Singapore mermaid adventure kicked off at ADEX Ocean Week, Asia’s biggest ocean and dive expo. If you ever plan to visit in March or April, check the timing—because this expo is an incredible way to dive deep (literally and figuratively) into the regional underwater scene.

And yes, mermaids were there too! There was a dedicated mermaid performance tank tucked in the back left corner that kept crowds coming all weekend long. We saw every kind of mer: performers of all ages, genders, and cultures, even someone swimming in a hijab (I had chills!). Not to mention styles—from classic sirens to underwater dancers, and even a splashy Spider-Man appearance.

🫧 Pro Tips if You Go:

  • A 1-day pass is totally enough to get the full experience

  • If you’re there to network, go on Friday—it’s quieter and people are still fresh

  • Sunday has the best deals (especially in the last few hours—some booths drop prices a lot!)

  • Don’t go in full glitter mermaid mode if you’re looking to have serious business chats with scuba or freedive orgs...

🧜‍♀️ Extra Mermaid Tip: Level Up Your Skills

For those who want to take their mermaid journey to the next level while in Singapore, here’s a special insider tip: You can book private classes, workshops, or full certification sessions with Syrena🐚✨

These experiences are part of the Singapore Mermaid School and the International Association of Mermaids, and they’re open to kids and adults, whether you’re a beginner, tourist, pro mermaid—or even royalty (yep, she’s taught them too!).

What makes it special (I mean - besides getting taught by one of our OG mermaid legends...)? Each session is customized just for you, based on your skill level, interests, and mermaid goals. So whether you’re curious about breathwork, movement, performance, or the deeper art of mermaiding, Syrena will tailor a magical experience you won’t forget. Again, just reach out to her via Instagram or email (thesingaporemermaid@gmail.com).
